About

It’s great when you wake up in the morning and can’t wait to get outside.

Presqu’ile Provincial Park

Spending the day outdoors, finding something amazing, and coming home with a camera full of photos is one of the best feelings in the world for me.   I hope you enjoy my site and hearing the stories behind the photos.

People often ask me how I find all the birds and animals.   That’s a two part answer:

1.  My ears!   I have always been curious about “What’s making that sound?”   Over the years I have learned the sounds of hundreds of birds, frogs, insects, and mammals.   Then once I figure out what I have heard, I try to find it.  Then I want to learn everything about it, so I read,  and ask even more questions.   Every single creature has amazing behaviours and adaptations to the environment that help it survive.  Which leads me to:

2.   Learning about animal behaviour through observation.  Once I know how the animals act and where they hang out, I have more of a chance of finding them, and seeing something great.

I hope that this website inspires you to get outside and be curious about the natural world.  You never know what you might find if you look closely.
